Derry City Walls - The Walls were built during the period 1613-1618 and are a must do! https://thederrywalls.com/
Ebrington Square & Peace Bridge (https://yourebrington.com/) - this is a former military site located on the Foyle riverfront, connected to Derry City Centre across the Peace Bridge.
The Guildhall - Sitting within reach of our famous 400-year-old Walls is one of the City’s most recognisable - and arguably one of the most stunning landmarks, the Guildhall. There are often exhibitions and events taking place which I would highly recommend. https://guildhallderry.com/
Bogside and Museum Of Free Derry - Located in The Bogside area of the city, this area has historical significance and really interesting to walk around, see the murals and visit the museum. It gives you a feel for how the people of Derry struggled, survived and thrived. https://museumoffreederry.org/
There are some beautiful cathedrals in Derry which are lovely to visit - Long Tower (St Columba's Church), St Columb’s cathedral (lovely streets to wander in this area) and St Eugene’s cathedral.

My Favourite Places to Visit
Wild Ireland: I just love Finn, Fergus and Oisin the wolves in Wild Ireland, they are so fierce! Tip: do the tour with the guides, when the animals hear their voices they appear from the forest!
Located in an ancient celtic rainforest, Wild Ireland offers a sanctuary to many animals including bears and wolves. There is a cafe onsite or I recommend you bring a picnic. Fantastic for kids and a good half/full day out, less than 10 mins from my cottage.
Grianán of Aileach: I always visit on the Summer and Winter solstice to mark the changing light. Tip: It is beautiful to sit in the fort and think about how our Celtic ancestors created and used this special place and the views are amazing, all with a coffee from Curious Coffee Co whose truck you will see on the way! It is a 15min drive from the cottage and highly recommended.
Glenevin Waterfall: not so well known but it is such a pretty walk of approx 30 minutes from the car park through woodland to the waterfall, across little bridges and I usually meet sheep on the way when I visit! Tip: If it is a nice day bring a picnic, there are covered benches on the walk up otherwise there is a great little cafe in Clonmany called The Markethouse that completes a lovely day out.
